Our 4th annual Financial Insights will provide you with an overview of the key economic, business and financial issues you will face in 2010.

Session One: Effective tax planning: defending profitability
This session will provide you with practical advice on corporate, personal and indirect tax issues. Our speakers will also discuss common tax issues clients have had to deal with during the last 12 months and will take a look ahead at the potential post-election tax landscape.

Session Two: Increase profits by improving your working capital management
Our Business Advisory team will focus on the short and medium term changes that you can make to improve your business’ liquidity and profitability. This interactive session will allow you to choose the issues which are causing most concern in your business and our experts will deal with the issues in order of popularity.

Session Three: Where are the safe havens for investors post recession?
2009 was again a tumultuous year for the stock markets, pension funds and alternative
investments. Our wealth management team will look at range of options for investors and will debate the key issues with you.

Session Four: Buying the right IT systems for your business
As companies continue to look for ways to improve performance and generate increased
efficiencies from their existing IT systems, and from procuring and implementing new IT
systems, our Business Technology experts will discuss how to ensure that you invest in right IT system which is right for your business.

12.00pm - 1.00pm The First 100 Days - Panel Discussion
The final session at Financial Insights 2010 will address the key challenges businesses face during the crucial first 100 days phase after a transaction has been completed or a business improvement project has begun. Our panel of experts will look at the common pitfalls which need to be avoided if a new venture is to deliver the value intended and the return on investment expected. They will also discuss their experience of why some projects and acquisitions do not deliver to the forecasts set out in the business plan.
As the final session will be panel led discussion, when registering be sure to include any questions you would like the panel to address on the day.

Working capital management and managing profitability
Donald Forsyth, Partner, will lead the first session. Donald will focus on the key issues that are impacting firms working capital and profitability.

Risk management and efficiency controls
Robert Mackenzie will look at the benefits that internal audit and strategic risk management can provide for law firms. Robert will examine the reasons why firms need to address their key business risks, how to develop strategies to mitigate these risks and the value that an internal, or outsourced internal, audit function can provide to firms. He will also look at the importance of data security and business continuity planning.
Robert is a partner in Scott-Moncrieff 's Business Technology and Consulting practice and has over 25 years of experience of helping commercial organisations and public sector bodies to develop their approach to internal audit, IT and performance audit and risk management.
