Summer Placements

Where are you heading this summer?

At Scott-Moncrieff we believe the best way of assessing a student’s ability to work for the firm is by giving them the opportunity to show us. We offer summer placements within the firm in several different departments, including the Business Advisory Group, Tax and Public Sector Audit teams.

The placements can be in either office, Glasgow or Edinburgh, and last between 2 and 12 weeks depending on our and your needs.

If you would like to apply please send your CV to: recruitment@scott-moncrieff.com. Application deadline for our summer 2011 programme: February 28 2011.

We offer summer placements  within the Business Advisory Group, Tax and Public Sector teams.

Jennifer Hempsey, who joined our Audit & Assurance practice two years ago, enrolled in Scott-Moncrieff's student summer placement programme in 2005. So we asked her to provide some reflections on what it was like to work at Scott-Moncrieff during her studies.

"My first experience with Scott-Moncrieff was when I applied for and was offered a summer position in the Business Advisory Group, between my first and second years at university. I had expectations of spending my summer making tea and filing, but instead was challenged from my first day, preparing accounts for sole traders and small limited companies.

From this time I not only gained valuable technical experience but also made many good friends and was made to feel like part of the team from the very beginning. I repeated this work experience in the two summers that followed, each year gaining more practical skills to add to the knowledge that I was gaining from my university studies.

When it came time to apply for graduate positions, I knew that Scott-Moncrieff would be my number one choice. Working with Scott-Moncrieff for the three summers had not only convinced me that I wanted to continue with my accountancy studies, but also that I really enjoyed the working atmosphere at Scott-Moncrieff.

It had also allowed me to see not only the high quality of client services that they provide, but also the excellent support network they provide for their students, enabling and encouraging them to overcome the challenges of ICAS training.

I didn’t realise four years ago that my three month summer placement would turn into a career, but I know that I made the right decision to train with Scott-Moncrieff. I am now six months into my training contract and I am thriving on the challenges and responsibilities that my job provides, as well as receiving every possible support for my studies."
