VAT Assistant


Edinburgh based – occasional travel to Glasgow offices and may incur travel across Scotland for Client Meetings

Advantage


Technical: Candidates who have some/any level of knowledge on the following issues would be an advantage.

  • VAT registrations and deregistrations
  • Liability of income
  • Recovery of VAT on expenditure
  • Capital Goods Scheme
  • Land and property issues
  • EU acquisitions and despatches
  • Imports and exports

The candidate will be trained to provide VAT advice in a clear and concise way. They must be able to manage their own time/workload and ensure a prompt and effective service. Any experience in advisory Vat would be beneficial.


Responsibilities


Assist partners and colleagues in all client work
Work to deadlines as dictated by client needs
Management of a client portfolio in time
Contribute to the VAT team procedures
Involvement in VAT training across the firm
Contribute to business development activities (tenders, business briefings etc)


Salary and prospects


Salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s skills and experience.

Opportunities will be given for on the job training and the take up of professional exams

Promotion is available subject to individual and team performance, development and achievements

Reporting line


Reporting to the VAT partner / VAT Manager Edinburgh

Also looking for an experienced VAT Assistant / Manager based in Glasgow must be experienced in VAT Consultancy and come from a Professional Services background.
