Nick Bennett, Managing Partner

Nick is our Managing Partner and is responsible for the management and co-ordination of the firm's services, resources and driving the firm forward in key sectors. Nick is an expert in public sector auditing and financial reporting. He also heads up our public sector team responsible for the achievement of the firm's high quality services to Audit Scotland. Nick is a former chairman of CIPFA/LASAAC responsible for the preparation of UK guidance on local authority financial reporting. He is also a non-executive director of Edinburgh Leisure. Nick is a proud father of two girls and enjoys playing 5 a side football.

Gordon Armour, Partner, Business Advisory

Gordon provides business and tax advice to a wide range of companies and professional firms. Gordon speacilises in advising medical partnerships on their accounting, taxation and pension planning issues.

Bernadette Higgins, Partner, Audit & Assurance

Bernadette joined the partnership as a trainee before becoming a Partner in 2007 and has over 15 years experience in both the external and internal audit environment. She is responsible for a wide cross section of clients across all sectors but specialises in construction and manufacturing.

Graham Scrimgeour, Partner, Audit & Assurance

Graham trained with Scott-Moncrieff and has 15 years experience in external and internal audit, punctuated by secondments on the other side of the fence. He joined the partnership in 2007. He specialises in the audit of commercial and financial services clients and advising on technical accounting, internal control, corporate governance and risk management. Graham has two young children and is doing his best to introduce them to Europe, one country at a time. When time permits he enjoys curling in the winter and hill walking in the summer.

Iain Lee, Partner, Audit and Assurance

Iain acts for a wide range of businesses and organisations for whom he adds value by ensuring the audit process is as efficient and effective as possible.  He has particular expertise in the internal and external audit of housing associations and independent schools and has a large number of construction sector clients. Iain is Scott-Moncrieff?s ethics partner and audit compliance principal, responsible for ensuring that the firm's objectivity, independence and integrity are never compromised.

Gillian Donald, Partner, Audit and Assurance

Scott-Moncrieff is the leading adviser to the charity sector and Gillian heads up our charity team. She also holds several non-executive directorships, so she knows first-hand the strategic challenges directors face. With over 20 years' experience gained from working with some of Scotland's most complex charities across a full range of activities, she will give you an unrivalled blend of accounting, governance and compliance advice. She believes passionately in the sector and volunteers in her spare time.

Chris Brown, Partner, Audit and Assurance

Chris is a recognised specialist in public sector internal and external audit.  Having started his career in the NHS, he now specialises in advising our public sector clients on risk management, business improvement, corporate governance and internal control.  Chris is also a member of the technical accounting groups within both the NHS and further education sectors.  Father of three young children, in his spare time Chris plays football, badminton, guitar and is a 2 handicap golfer.

Donald Forsyth, Partner, Business Advisory

Businesses benefit from first hand experience, knowing it as it is. As a former independent retailer, Donald understands the needs of owner managed businesses better than most. He has applied this knowledge to good effect working in the SME sector; particularly in the property, technology and energy sectors. He is a regular contributor to the business press. Donald is a keen musician. Although he has a number of guitars he fiercely denies the rumour that they constitute a collection - if only they did!

David Boyd, Partner, Tax

Scott Craig, Partner, VAT

Scott is our specialist VAT partner and is responsible for all of the VAT services provided by the firm. He is regularly engaged by other professional advisors to provide stand-alone VAT consultancy advice. Scott is a member of the Institute of Indirect tax and the VAT Practitioners Group. In his free time Scott enjoys playing golf and embarking on "seasonal" fitness drives. With his passion for motorcycles and rugby taking more of a spectator role these days he is beginning to develop a taste for good food and fine wine.

Stewart MacDonald, Partner, Corporate Finance

Stewart is an expert in all aspects of corporate finance and has led a number of transactions in both the private and public sectors. He regularly undertakes business planning work, due diligence and project appraisal work on behalf of banks, venture capital funds and private investors. Stewart has also spent time seconded to one of the main Scottish clearing banks where he was involved in many large finance projects. He is also a licensed insolvency practitioner.

Computers and computing are now integral parts of most businesses. Robert leads our Business Technology & Consulting team, who advise clients across a range of market sectors on how to ensure maximum efficiency is derived from their investment in technology. This ranges from ensuring the business information is kept secure and readily available to developing ways to integrate technology into business processes and delivering improved performance across the business. In his spare time Robert can be found at the Dojo practising Aikido.

Paul Thompson, Partner, Business Advisory Group

Paul returned to Scott-Moncrieff in 2008 after spending eight years in the construction industry. He trained with the firm, qualifying as a CA in 1991. Having worked in industry Paul brings an additional perspective to our Business Advisory Group. He has a wealth of practical experience of what it is like 'at the coalface' which has proven to be a great benefit to our clients, particularly those running SMEs and for public sector organisations entering into construction related contracts with private sector companies. Paul has 3 children and enjoys playing golf, and still believes he can make it as a professional footballer(!)
